Two words: FIRST CLASS! Finally, after years of international travel I was rewarded with a wicked upgrade! 5 margarita's and loads of posh munchies later I arrived in Cancun...if only my bag had too. Talk about irony. Viva Mexico!

Tortillas, Queso y Carne...all things my body loves and loathes in the same glutinous bite! Mexico has plugged me up royally and no amount
of cheap laxatives can help. Ay Caramba. Adios Reggie, Hola Gordita Senorita! |
First two cave dives in the Yucatan Cenotes, "Dos Ojos", were beyond words! A labyrinth of stalactites and stalagmites welcomed me to an eerie yet awe-inspiring underworld of fresh water cave diving. An experience like no other that should not be missed when in the Yucatan! From the fresh waters of the Cenotes to the salty waters of the Caribbean Sea, the next set of dives yielded all the usual suspects with one guest of honor. A large and in charge, preggo bull shark! Instead of swimming away, I found myself pursuing. Mesmerized by her every move I found a new appreciation for these incredible creatures of the deep. Two sets of very different dives with the same amazing result...unforgettable. Unforgettable dives with two unforgettable people. Camilo y Margarita are the real deal and will give you an experience that no other company can! Please contact Camilo y Margarita of Divers UnderGround on your next trip to the Yucatan. You won't regret it! Buen viaje!

"Dive...Cerveza...Free Room! Dive...Free Room...Cerveza! Cereza...Free Room...Dive." Sheizza, if diving isn't your thing, Utila won't be either.

Note to self: NEVER and I repeat NEVER clean out dozens of Costa Rican jalapenos with only finger tips and fingernails... especially with a few open hand wounds. Thank goodness for valium, good med's and an amazing boyfriend to change out the ice water hand bath throughout the night. Sheizza!

Hiked to Jesus, enjoyed proper smoothies with lovely ladies, attended a Canadian come Nicaraguan Mardi Gras wedding on the beach, assisted in bride/groom pinata bashing, cut a rug on an the Iguana bar, had a camera stolen at the Taco Stand, recovered by the San Juan police and thanks to Robyn Grant most amazing photo, brought the seedy ladrón to justice! What a day :) Miss you already sis!!

So this is why they're called, "Chicken Buses". Or, more appropriately, "Rooster Rides". Cock-a-doodle-doo!

Patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to surfing but after a fair bit of El Tunco thrashing, I caught some proper waves! Small victories for me. Now if only I could stay on one beach long enough to actually learn this bloody sport.

22 hours on a bus, 3 border crossings and a few "complimentary" bus meals ala Burger King...the long journey from Costa Rica to El Salvador was well worth the unplanned time spent in Costa! Big thanks to the beautiful Trinler family for opening your house, lifestyle and pura vida mantra to us! We miss you already and look forward to the day we can return the favor...Suissa Style! Danke y Gracias!!! |
FINALLY...a market in Central America where bargaining reigns supreme! The Chichi Market in Guatemala was a welcome challenge and after 3 big loops, heaps of haggling, and a lot of patience, I purchased my wares at local price tags. I may be a gringa but I'm not a tourist when it comes to shopping!

A must see in Guatemala...Semuc Champey. By far one of the most beautiful and unique places on the planet!

Hasta la Vista Central America!!
